We are seeking an experienced Base Software Validation Engineer to own the definition, integration, and validation of Base software functionalities within the propulsion control ECU for our major Swedish automotive customer. This role ensures that the platform software (Base Software) provides a reliable foundation for application software across multiple vehicle programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnostics infrastructure, network stack behaviour, bootloader validation, and supporting integration with cybersecurity and functional safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute test strategies for Base software elements across the propulsion control ECU software builds and project lifecycles.
  • Maintain and manage Base software operations for Powertrain Control Modules, including bootloader behaviour and software download (SWDL).
  • Validate and debug Partial Networking, wakeup/sleep state transitions, and diagnostics (UDS, DCM).
  • Lead supplier management, review integration reports, and perform system-level gap analysis and regression testing.
  • Collaborate with CyberSecurity and Functional Safety teams to ensure compliance with secure communication, watchdogs, and system safety requirements.
  • Assess and improve robustness of ECU system design through structured testing and design reviews.

Requirements

  • Ideal candidate must have minimum 3 years of experience in Base Software Validation.
  • Strong understanding of Base Software (BSW) architecture in AUTOSAR Classic Platform is required.
  • Practical experience with diagnostics infrastructure: UDS, DCM, DEM, NVM, System Base Chip.
  • Hands-on debugging using tools such as CANoe, INCA. 
  • Experience in using Debuggers (e.g. trace32) and performance check tools like GLIWA.
  • Proficient in Partial Networking and resolving wakeup/sleep issues and deep understanding of network protocols: CAN, LIN, FlexRay.
  • Proficiency with bootloader validation, software flashing (SWDL), and secure boot mechanisms.
  • Familiarity with AUTOSAR configuration tools and associated ARXML artifacts.
  • Understanding of functional safety (ISO 26262) and watchdog implementation.
  • Experience with non-volatile memory (NVM) handling and power management strategies.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity features such as secure communication (SecOC) and secure key management is a plus.
  • Strong documentation and requirement analysis skills.
